Benthos and Life Under Water were created in response to the painting "Sealife" by Deborah Sigel.
Benthos was written as a sonic reinterpretation of the original work.
Life Under Water was composed in part by using the painting as a sound source. Sigel's "Sealife" was spectrally sampled into 88 layers and mapped to the standard piano keyboard. Low sonic frequencies correspond to the red end of the spectrum, high frequencies to the blue. Each of the 88 layers (notes) preserved both the painting's left/right color distribution and the frequency spread present in each bin.

This is my debut solo record. A mid-late 90’s throwback to the heyday of dark ambient electronica fused with the rumble of progressive dubstep and delicate orchestral melodies of post-rock. Morgan Hendry
