Life Under Water was composed in part by using "Sealife" as a sound source. The painting was spectrally sampled into 88 layers and mapped to the standard piano keyboard. Low sonic frequencies correspond to the red end of the spectrum, high frequencies to the blue. Each of the 88 layers (notes) preserved both the painting's left/right color distribution and the frequency spread present in each bin.

This was the second record by Beware of Safety, and, in my opinion, one of the strongest. It also holds my first serious foray into "classical" composition: Raingarden. Morgan Hendry
